Weather in the Flathead Valley
The Flathead Valley enjoys a relatively mild climate for its elevation (about 3,000 feet) and latitude (near the 49th parallel). High mountains to the east and west protect the valley from harsh weather extremes, and the many lakes and rivers have a moderating effect on winter and summer temperatures.
Glorious summers boast warm days, abundant sunshine, low humidity, and cool nights. A lake or stream is rarely far away when you seek a refreshing dip.
Golden autumn days start turning crisp by late October. This is excellent hiking, bicycling, hunting and fishing weather!
Winters are gentle enough that nearly any day is a good one for sledding, skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling.
Spring brings flowers in the valley and fresh snow dusting the mountain tops. The Flathead Valley’s moderate climate offers an inviting oasis for you to have fun and relax – in any season.
